Helen Adena (Klang) Taylor, daughter of Carl A. (Charlie) and Tekla (Sandahl) Klang, was born on May 30, 1910, in Fremont Township, Page County, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Nebraska at the age of 97.
Her early childhood was spent the Page and Montgomery county areas before moving to Wisconsin. She returned to Iowa after a few years and married in 1928. On December 18, 1928, Helen was united in marriage to Jerry Frank Taylor in Shenandoah, Iowa. Following their marriage they made their home in Shenandoah. Helen worked for several places outside of the home and held positions with Linquist's Grocery and Mount Arbor Nursery (from which she retired), she was however first and foremost a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Shenandoah Church of the Nazarene and a one-time member of the War Mothers, as well as the Mission Covenant Church and Ladies' Aid Society. Helen was an avid reader, largely self educated, and instilled in her children a love of knowledge. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting and travel.
Preceding Helen in death were her parents; husband, Jerry; grandson, Jerry Kalei Taylor; and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three sons, Keith Taylor and his wife Bonnie of St. Louis, MO, Robert Taylor and his wife Renate of Simi Valley, CA, and Dennis Taylor of Shenandoah, IA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held on Friday, October 26, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Rev. S. T. Taylor gave the words of comfort. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
