Lois Marie Bright, daughter of Richard Breckinridge Oldham and Blanch Marie (Fahseler) Oldham, was born on June 21, 1935 at Harrisonville, Missouri. She passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 72 following a brief illness.
As a young girl, Lois and her family moved to northwest Missouri near Tarkio. She attended the Tarkio schools and graduated from Tarkio High School. On April 30, 1960 Lois was united in marriage to Richard Ray Bright at the First Baptist Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. Following their marriage they made their home in Shenandoah for three years before moving to Glenwood, Iowa and later lived in Fremont County, Iowa. They have resided at their current farm residence near Essex, Iowa since 1978. Lois and Richard raised three children; Tammy, Timothy and Terry. Lois was a member of the Faith Covenant Church in Essex. She loved going to yard sales and enjoyed collecting angels and angel memorabilia.
Preceding Lois in death were her parents; infant son, Rick and infant daughter, Vicki; sister, Betty Bright; and two brothers John and Richard Oldham, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Richard R. Bright of Essex, IA; daughter, Tammy Chatfield and Terry Glassinger of Essex, IA; and two sons, Tim Bright and Sue Midberry of Red Oak, IA and Terry Bright of Essex, IA; four grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Oldham of Arkansas and Arthur Oldham of Clarinda, IA; two sisters, Martha Bancroft and husband Harold of Essex, IA, and Glenna Stoll and husband Willard of Clarinda, IA; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services were held from Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Words of Comfort were given by Rev. Gary Fuller. Sheila McCoy was in charge of the Memory Register. Musical selections included "Daddy's Hands", "Holes In The Floor of Heaven", and "The Old Rugged Cross". Casket Bearers were Tim Bright, Terry Bright, Corey Bright, Joseph Chatfield, Dan Bright, Don Bright, Ron Bright, and Mike Williams. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Memorials are being directed to the American Diabetes Association in Lois' name.
