William "Bill" Danielson
William Carlton Danielson, was born August 6, 1924 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Leonard and Oleena (Harris) Danielson. He passed away on August 5, 2008 in Palm Desert, California at the age of 83.
Bill spent his early years in Lincoln, Nebraska graduating from high school there in 1942. On December 24, 1942, he was united in marriage to Maxine Stephens at Maryville, Missouri. After their marriage, they moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked for Coca Cola and then worked for McMichaels Implement in Shenandoah before being transferred to Red Oak, Iowa. In 1944, he entered the U.S. Army, he was a tank driver for the 2nd Calvary. After returning from the service, he worked construction with his father-in-law, Clark Stephens, in Shenandoah. He later did dry walling in Ft. Knox, Kentucky and built numerous homes in Shenandoah, Iowa before moving to California where he was a superintendent for MCD Construction.
Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion and the Elks Club. He loved to fish, golf, garden, and do wood working. He loved to interact with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved his dogs, other pets and all animals.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents; brothers, Jim and Smokey; two sisters-in-law; mother-in-law, Irene Stephens, and father-in-law Clark Stephens; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Danielson.
Survivors include wife Maxine of Desert Hot Springs, California; three sons, Darrell Danielson and wife Cathy of Cathedral City, California, Steve Danielson of Omaha, Nebraska, Devin Danielson and wife Becky of Shenandoah, Iowa; sister, Marge Heinstra of Newport Richey, Florida; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by the Rev. Clark Finehout. Casket bearers were Mike Danielson, Chris Danielson, Earamos Danielson, Herb Shelton, Dolan Danielson, Mike Morelock and Stephen Danielson. Military rites were accorded by the Shenandoah American Legion Post #88. Interment was in Shenandoah's Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials in Bill's name are being directed to the American Cancer Society. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
