"Shirley and family, We were so sorry to hear of Elvin's illlness and passing. I have many wonderful memories of his "pet-saving" abilities and great care to our 4-H calves throught-out my growing up days on the farm. We still laugh about the time he and Howard Johnson dropped off a litter of kittens in our yard, much to Mom's disgust. :) My dad and mom thought the world of you both, too, and cherished your friendship. You are all in our thoughts and prayers."

"Shirley and family, I was so saddened to hear about Elvie's passing, and send my sympathy and prayers to you all. Valarie also sends her condolences, as she remembers him as well, as she recalls her thoughts as a child, "He was really handsome and nice." I am particularly glad that I was able to see him at the reunion, though I realized that he was not well, though had no idea of the extent of his illness until Natalie told me. Elvin was one of the most respected men I know - not only for his professional life, but also for his personal life. I have never heard anything but positive things about him as he lived his life, and certainly I knew him better as a young man in high school - he had a great sense of humor, was kind and thoughtful, friendly and outgoing. He was truly a fine man, and you will miss him every day in so many ways. But you have the comfort of knowing his soul is safely in Heaven and whole and free, and I belive, looking down on all of you with his love, and comforting you, as you know in God's time, you will all rejoice in meeting again. The earthly body passes from our sight, but love never ends, and you have so many precious memories to cherish and to share. May the Lord hold you close and give you the peace and comfort of His love. Agape Vonda "

"Sorry to hear about your loss. I have always liked Elvie (Elvin)since the days on the farm, the 70s, when he used to come out and treat our livestock. While I had not seen Elvie much in the last 18 years I have always thought he was a great guy. Really appreciated him letting us use the condo back in 2001. Very good man in my book. He will be missed by all of those close to him I am sure. May you find peace in knowing he was a gret guy."
