Norman passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 6, 2010.

Memorials may be directed to the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah.

Norman Bierbaum was born February 2, 1928 in Griswold Iowa the son of Harry and Gladys (Ashbaugh) Bierbaum. Norman entered into eternal peace on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at his home.

He attended Griswold Community School. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he worked in the torpedo shop aboard the USS Antietam. He served in Japan as occupational support for a year following World War II. After his military service, he married Vera Knisley on November 18, 1948 in Red Oak Iowa. Norman and Vera were blessed with four children, Julie, Ronald, Larry and Connie.

Norman started his farming career working with Bud Turner in the early 1950's. Later he transitioned to work at the Lakin Farm near Hawthorne Iowa. In the early 1960's Norman went on to become the founder of the Triple B Dairy Farm in Red Oak Iowa. This is the location where Norman and Vera raised their four children. In 1975, Norman and Vera moved to Shenandoah Iowa. Norman continued to run the Triple B Farm until he retired in 1997.

He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Elks, the VFW and the American Legion. Norman continued to live in Shenandoah Iowa until his death with his wife Vera.

Norman is survived by his wife, Vera (Knisley) Bierbaum of Shenandoah, IA.; brothers Duane Bierbaum of Griswold, Robert and wife Joann Bierbaum of Lemon Cove, CA, Donald and his wife Phyllis Bierbaum of Fort Collins, CO., and Gilbert Bierbaum of Carson, IA; children Julie (Bierbaum) Crowell of Shenandoah, IA, Ronald (Linda) Bierbaum of Red Oak, IA and Larry and wife Sandra Bierbaum of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren Stephanie Bierbaum of Sioux Falls SD, Melissa Bierbaum of Red Oak IA, Michael Bierbaum of Red Oak IA, Kelly Crowell of Omaha, NE and Dustin Bierbaum of Orange City, IA; great grandchildren Braden Sands, Bridgett Sands, Brandi Sands and Emma Bierbaum; self adopted great grandchildren Nic and Tyler Terry; special friend Steve Selby; Kenny Hurley and wife Linda; Patsy Cooper; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Gladys Bierbaum, daughter Connie Bierbaum and sister-in-law Dorothy Bierbaum.
