Gloria Charmaine (Ruby) Garner was born on November 1, 1930 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd Elwin and Evelyn Josephine (Racine) Ruby. Gloria entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the Manor of Malvern.

Gloria's early days were spent in Shenandoah. She graduated from Shenandoah High School and later went on to attend Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. While in college she met C.H. Garner, the couple later married in Reno, Nevada on February 29, 1952. She continued her college education at Clarinda Community College.

Gloria worked at Alden's Department Store as a switchboard operator in Iowa City, as a lab tech at the State Psychiatric Hospital in Iowa City, at Collins Radio Station in Cedar Rapids, along with numerous other short term jobs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband C.H, Garner, and several aunts and uncles.

She leaves behind her daughter Karen Garner of Farragut; granddaughters Rebecca Castle of Shenandoah and Christine "Tina" Castle of Blair, NE; aunts Shirley Dorl of Shenandoah and Dorothy Racine of Longmont, CO; son-in-law Terry Castle of Shenandoah; other family and friends.
