Rodney Clayton Tillman was born on August 4, 1962 in Hamburg, Iowa, the son of Carl Roy and Glenna Louise (Mahaffey) Tillman. Rodney passed away suddenly on Friday afternoon, July 9, 2010 at the Shenandoah Medical Center.
Rodney's early years were spent in the Nebraska City, Farragut and Sidney area. He attended school at Sidney High School. On June 16, 1999 he was united in marriage to Krista Lynn Bowman in Shenandoah, Iowa. The couple resided in various communities in Southwest Iowa through out their marriage.
Truck Driving was Rodney's passion. He worked in the trucking industry for the majority of his life, trucking was in his blood. He was currently working as an over the road truck driver for Hendrickson Transportation in Hamburg. He enjoyed his years spent with the firm and the many friendships that he made.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed rooting on his favorite driver Jeff Gordon. Spending time with family and friends at barbeques was one of his favorite weekend activities. Rodney was blessed with 13 grandchildren which he loved dearly. After his first heart attack in 2004, life took on a new meaning to Rodney. Everyday there after was a gift and he learned to make the most of what he was given.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Dustin Dean Tillman, Jr. and his brother Bradley Gerald Tillman.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Krista Tillman; children Tara Shaw and husband Zach, Andrew Tillman and wife Jennifer, Tina Dooley and husband Skyler, Dustin Tillman, Michael Tillman, Kyle Tillman and Aaron Wray; 13 grandchildren; parents Carl and Glenna Tillman; siblings Carlene Higgins and husband Timothy, John Tillman and wife Deb, Michael Tillman, Bonnie Dunn and husband Mark; mother and father-in-law Robert and Penny Bowman; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
