Louis H. Savett, 76, passed away in his home, on May 1, 2008 in Santa Monica, California. He was surrounded by his family, and immeasurable dignity and love.Louis was the former Chairman of Gumbiner Savett Inc., the Santa Monica-based accounting and business advisory firm he co-founded with his friend Charles Gumbiner in 1959. He most recently formed and served as the Managing Principal of the Strategic Transactions Services Group of the firm. He had a distinguished professional career, serving on the Board of Directors for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, as well as being elected President of the Board of Trustees for the California CPA Education Foundation. Lou was also the former Chair and a current member of the Board of Trustees at the Park Century School, an independent day school in Los Angeles for bright children who have learning disabilities. Louis Savett touched countless lives, both professionally and personally. A member of the Los Angeles High class of 1950, Lou went on to graduate from UCLA in 1954 with a B.S. in Business Administration and Economics. He was an avid fan of all Bruin sports, particularly basketball, and attended almost every home game at Pauley Pavilion. His energy was endless; he was a marathon-runner, fly-fisherman, downhill skier, and world-traveler. A philanthropist, Lou was also a patron and generous supporter of the Arts. Lou Savett was a brilliant, generous, passionate and honorable man; in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, he seemed to be invincible.Louis is survived by his beloved wife Paula; his son Bruce Savett (Susan); daughter Deborah Zurek Olliff (Stacey); step-daughters Andrea Fishman and Alison Pascall; and six grandchildren Lauren Savett, Macallan Savett, Amy Zurek, Sarah Zurek, Skyler Pascall and Annabel Pascall; his sister Barbara Roth (Julius); and his first wife Sandra Savett.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in LouÂ's name to the Park Century School, 2040 Stoner Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90025 (www.parkcenturyschool.org), the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 2141 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245 (www.pancan.org), or the charity of your choice.
