Barbara "Bobbi" Asimow

Barbara("Bobbi")Asimow died peacefully on August 22nd from cancer. She was 63 years old. Bobbi is survived by a large and loving family including her husband, Michael Asimow, five children(Ian Lennard, Hillary Lennard Blum, Courtney Lennard, Daniel Asimow and Paul Asimow), four sons- or daughters-in-law (Craig Browcow, Peter Blum, LeAnn Bischoff and Colette Caggiano), a sister-in-law(Myra Bennett), a brother-in-law(Steven Asimow), her first husband(Colin Lennard), and seven wonderful grandchildren(Lev, Naomi, Eli, Jacob, Jonah, Dante, and Ellie, plus two more on the way). She survived her dear parents(Sam and Elinor Stone) and loving brother(Warren Stone). Bobbi had a fabulous gift for friendship and leaves behind a large community of grieving friends who can't believe she's gone.Bobbi was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1943 and came to Los Angeles as a teenager, attending Fairfax High School. She received an MS in psychology from San Francisco State and an MBA fro the University of Judaism.For the past 22 years, Bobbi worked for the Jewish Federation Council of Los Angeles as a professional fundraiser. She directed the Metropolitan Region and, for the last twelve years, the Women's Campaign. Bobbi was a legendary success in the Women's Campaign, raising over $12 million a year for Jewish causes and for Israel, supervising a devoted staff, and mobilizing an army of dedicated volunteers. She was one of the most respected professionals at the Federation.In Bobbi's honor, an endowment will be established(with the Jewish Community Foundation)that will fund the Bobbi Asimow Award for the best Jewish communal worker of the year. This award will recognize the person who best exemplifies Bobbi's spirit: leadership, teamwork, dedication, love of Judaism, and a deep concern for those in need, in Los Angeles and around the world.In lieu of flowers, donations to the Women's Campaign of the United Jewish Fund would be greatly appreciated.
