Daryl S. "Doc" Mather
October 10, 1922 - January 31, 2012

Madison - Daryl S. "Doc" Mather, age 89 passed away at his home on January 31, 2012. He was born on October 10, 1922 and grew up in Waupaca WI. Doc met the love of his life and together they enjoyed riding his Harley. He then enlisted and served in the United States Army during WWII. In 1946, Doc was united in marriage to Ruth Ries and then they settled in Madison. Went to attend the UW-Madison, electrical engineering. Started his career with Burroughs Business Machines, also well known in the Capitol, City Hall and many banks as the man who fixed computers and office machines. Later on he worked at MG&E, drove City Bus, & worked at the Weisman Center as a technician/tool maker who helped build and design machines and apparatus's for medical research. He loved music, dancing, singing, and the ever popular fish fry. Doc is survived by his wife Ruth of 66 years; five children, Doug, Cricket, George, Nancy, and Greg, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his siblings, Robert (Pat) Mather and Roberta "Irene" Jasper. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; Melvin, Marvin and Marjorie.
A memorial gathering will be held at the VFW Post #7591, 301 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 1:00 to 6:00 pm.
