Marina Elizabeth Kowalewski, of Deerbrook, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at Langalde Hospital under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 82 years old. She was born on July 21, 1929 in Milwaukee, a daughter of William and Josephine (Silva) Sciano. She married Walter Kowalewski on April 18, 1948 in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2011.
She was raised in Milwaukee where she worked as a Chanel Saleswomen at a major department store. Mrs. Kowalewski was a switch board operator for Wisconsin Bell also in Milwaukee and worked for McDonalds in Brookfield with two of her sons. She was an Avon representative for many years.
She was proud of her pure Sicilian heritage and enjoyed cooking traditional Sicilian meals, ballroom dancing with her husband, art and painting. After moving to Rose Lake she further enjoyed fishing and hunting. She also loved winning at the casino.
Survivors include two daughters Lynn (Tony) Jira, Deerbrook and Darlene (Phillip) Moberg, Waukesha; three sons, Matthew (Linda) Kowalewski, Pewaukee, Micheal Kowalewski, Sussex and Thomas (Linda) Kowalewski, Waukesha; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Laura (Tony), April (TJ), Jessica, Michelle, Ashley (Darryl), Kevin, and Katelyn; five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda Hochtritt and Theresa Kurkowski.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Andy Kowalewski; a sister, Carmella Varga; and three brothers, Joe, John and Charles Sciano.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday February 26, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Omer Kelley officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
