"Lori's family; very sorry to read of Lori's passing, a kinder person is rare to find and this world needs more people like her. I was her classmate in 80 and knew she'd be an asset to all she touched."
Lori Lee Thiessen was born on January 29, 1962 to Walter and Doris "Peggy" (Bass) Onken at the Windom Hospital. She was baptized on March 25, 1962, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom and later confirmed in that same church on April 11, 1976. Lori attended the Windom Area School District where she graduated with the class of 1980. Following high school, Lori attended technical college in both Jackson and Hutchinson, Minnesota where she studied child care and geriatrics.
On August 26, 1989, Lori was united in marriage to Lauren Thiessen at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. For twenty years, Lori worked at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom where she was part of the activities department. Most recently, she was employed at Tegel's Chiropractic in Windom. On Tuesday evening, Lori became suddenly ill at her home and was taken to the Windom Area Hospital where she passed away at the age of 50 years.
Lori was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom. She was active in the Staff Parish and worked as the Nursery Coordinator. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever she had the opportunity. There were many things that brought her joy including gardening, motorcycle rides, bon fires, music, nature, homemade ice cream, and most importantly, playing with children. Her family was her number one priority.
Lori is survived by her loving husband, Lauren of Windom; her two daughters, Erin Nicole Thiessen and Jamie Renae Thiessen of Windom; her mother, Peggy Onken of Windom; one brother, Gary Onken and his wife, Mary, of Windom; two sisters, Carol Krueger of Lakefield and Susan Nelson and her husband, Donn, of Windom; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Cherie; her father Walter Onken and an infant sister.
Blessed be the memory of Lori Lee Thiessen.
