Margaret was born on July 23, 1929 at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City, IA. Her parents were Carl S. Olson and Borgel (Betty) Johme Olson Wehde. Margaret was married to John F. Gill on November 11, 1950. They were united in marriage at Doon, IA. To their union four sons were born: David L. Gill, Patrick F. Gill, Thomas J. Gill (fiancé, Cathy Cowan) all of Sioux City, Kenneth D. Gill of Oak Park, IL, and two daughters: Janet G. (Tim) Lowe of St. Louis, MO, and Carol J. Meredith of South Sioux City. Margaret lived most of her life in Sioux City, IA. She and her husband moved to South Sioux City in 2000.

Margaret worked at IBP in the Billing Department for over 20 years, and enjoyed her retirement years by traveling the United States and the world. She was able to enjoy many trips with her husband, children, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. One of Margaret's greatest joys was visiting her Norwegian cousins at her mother's and grandparent's place of birth in Valdres Slidre, Norway. Declining health prevented Margaret from further trips abroad but she continued to enjoy short visits to children living outside of Iowa.

Margaret also enjoyed spending time with her 17 grandchildren: Benjamin Gill, Brendan Gill, Shannon Gill, Shelby Meredith, Konnor Gill, all of Sioux City, Tessa Gill of Yeosu, South Korea, Ann Lowe of Seoul, South Korea, Grace Lowe Rutkowski (Jesse) of Havelock, NC, Shelley Lowe and Keith Gill of Iowa City, Keely Gill of Cedar Rapids, Nicole (Nick) Catsoules of Cave Creek, AZ, Alyssa Gill, Christopher Meredith (Theresa), and Michael Meredith (fiancé, Lauren Lanning) of South Sioux City, NE , Emily Gill and Kristin Gill of Oak Park, IL, and two great grandchildren: Colby Dahlen, and Mia Catsoules of Cave Creek, AZ; and is survived by a sister, Rangdi K. Jorgensen. Margaret was also survived by many special and dear brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and nieces and nephews all around the country.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, John Wehde; and granddaughter Kelly Jo Meredith.

Our special thanks to those granddaughters and her grandson's fiance who so lovingly cared for their grandmother and close friend in her last several months: Alyssa Gill, Lauren Lanning, Shannon Gill, and Shelby Meredith. Also heartfelt thanks to Bert and Leonard Gill for their constant presence and loving support to Margaret and her family.

Pallbearers are Margaret's grandsons: Benjamin Gill, Brendan Gill, Christopher Meredith, Michael Meredith, Keith Gill, and Konnor Gill. Honorary pallbearers are Margaret's brothers-in-law: Harold Gill, Donald Gill, Leonard Gill, Michael Gill, David Gill and Joseph Gill.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Margaret's honor to the Alzheimer's Association and to Hospice of Siouxland.
