She was the best grandma any granddaughter or grandkid could ever ask for. I miss our movie, puzzel, an snacking nights grandma but I have those with mom now too so she's not left out haha i miss you grandma, grandpa misses you so much he loves you till the end of time from the universe ?️ Oh by the way grandma you granddaughter made it to senior year!!! Oh my gosh I almost forgot LIYA she looks just like you grandma she's the cutest little girl exempt Miya she's cute too but Liya she would sit in the living room an the old kind of country music would be on an she would rock back and forth she can't get much more like you grandma but I miss you so much I love you! Everyone misses you! We haven't forgotten you. PS: I found one of the most amazing things on my phone after the funeral it was your voice gosh I miss your voice, hugs and kisses. Virginia R. Saltzman, 71, of Emerson, NE passed away while surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at a Sioux City hospital, following a brief illness of pancreatic cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Emerson. Visitation will begin at the church from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Virginia was born in rural Emerson, NE on January 7, 1941, the daughter of Otto C. and Meta L. (Hingst) Huggenberger. She attended school in rural Homer, NE then Emerson, NE. She married John J. Saltzman, Jr. on August 1, 1958 at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE. To this union 3 daughters and 2 sons were born. The couple lived in Hartington for nine years before moving to Emerson, where they have resided for 40 years. Virginia was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE.
Virginia enjoyed bowling, camping, puzzles, reading books, crocheting, cooking and QVC. She loved her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and her dogs, Spook and her buddy, Max.
Survivors include her husband, John of Emerson, NE; children, Linda (Joe) Mildorfer of South Sioux City, NE, Ron (Anne) Saltzman, Sharon (Robert) Demke, Duane (Willa) Saltzman, and Karen (Tim) Vogel, all of Emerson, NE; sister, Wanda Coan of South Sioux City, NE; grandchildren, Sara, Nicole, Matt, Ben, Brandi, Natashia, Litton, Nick, Megan, Justin, Neal, Laurel, Abby and Lexi; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, 3 sisters; 4 brothers; 1 sister-in-law, Luella (Rose) Reese; 1 brother-in-law, Tom Saltzman, Sr.; and her mother and father-in-law.
