"I will miss 'Mom Eugster' for so many reasons, her smile, her hugs, her cakes and cookies, and for all the times she took care of me after I got into something bad at the farm. Sometimes it was mud, a barbed wire fence, or bees, but it didn't matter she always had the right words. If I got cut, bruised, or pushed around by the bigger kids she could make it all better with a smile, a cookie, or both. She never spoke a harsh word to me, and I always wanted to please her. She was kindness in its purest sense. She will be missed and I'm sure she already has a place in heaven picked out, and it will be the coolest farm in heaven, I hope someday I will be able to visit it. Sometimes my mother (Krazy Kae) had business in Madison, and she would ask if I wanted to hang out with Pat at the farm. All the other kids would be at school, and I would get the run of the farm, and better yet, I would get all of her attention, I always said yes. I know this is a difficult time for the Eugster family, I just want you to know others, like myself, are praying and thinking of you. My hope is that you know how much your mother was loved and admired by others. She touched so many, and asked for so little in return. She was a great person, and I am lucky to have known her. Stoughton- Patricia Ann Eugster, age 81, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. She was born in Madison on September 18, 1930, a daughter of Earl and Mona (Dunnwell) Collins. Patricia attended Oregon Schools and married her high school sweetheart, John Carl Eugster on November 8, 1952. They worked side by side on their dairy farm on Hwy 138 and raised six children. Patricia was a devoted wife and mother. She was a foster mother to several infants and older children, and a second mother to nieces, nephews and her children's friends. With a generous heart, she treated everyone like family, and was very involved in caring for others, including animals. She counted herself a very lucky lady. Full of life, she will be remembered for her fun, adventurous nature, and her wonderful sense of humor. In addition to farming, Pat enjoyed success as a real estate agent, worked with special needs children, and waitressed at the Hoffman House.
She is survived by her husband, John; 5 children, Tom (Rachelle), Dan, Sue, David and Joe (Carol) Eugster; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Eugster; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 4 siblings, Shan, Tim, John and Bill. She was preceded in death by her son, John; grand daughter, Esprit; a sister, Mary; and brothers-in-law, Al and Sam.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren, Stoughton, with Monsignor Gerard Healy officiating. The family will greet friends at church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service at noon. A private burial service will take place at Graves Cemetery in Rutland at a later date. Special thanks to Agrace HospiceCare, Msgr. Gerard Healy, and Dr. Siebers. Memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
