Richard D. Jewell, D.D.S.
February 12, 1936 - March 1, 2012

Richard D. Jewell, D.D.S. of Madison passed away on March 1, 2012.
He was born at Reedsburg Hospital on February 12, 1936, delivered by his father, Dr. E. L. Jewell. He attended Luther College graduating in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then attended Marquette Dental School graduating in 1962 with a doctorate in Dentistry. Before graduation day he married Jeanette B. Brown on April 15, 1962 whom he was married to for 46 years.
After graduation he entered the United States Air Force as a Captain practicing dentistry. He was based in Minot, North Dakota during his service to his country. After the Air Force he practiced dentistry in Baraboo for 4 years before heading south to Monona where he set up his practice and worked in the community for the next 37 years until his retirement. Dr. Jewell was a dedicated member in the Zor Shriners of Madison, serving on the Directors Staff.
Family, friends and former patients will miss his friendly smile, quick wit, storytelling and jokes, and above all his kindness to all.
Dr. Jewell was preceded in death by his mother Adele and his Father Ernest, his brother Robert, daughter Kimberly and his wife Jeanette who passed away on June 28, 2008. Dr. Jewell is survived by a son Todd and daughter Lisa, grandchildren Paige and Sean, son-in-law Peter, his sisters-in-law Janice Word and Tracy Clodfelter, along with his nephew Randy and nieces Kelsey and Alison.
A memorial service will be on at 11 AM, Thursday March 8th, 2012 at Roselawn Memorial Park Chapel, 705 Femrite Drive, Monona. In lieu of flowers or gifts, all memorials to the Shriners Children Hospital in Dr. Jewell's name is appreciated.
