Lucille Anderson Carley

Lucille Anderson Carley, age 92, of Oakland, Iowa and formerly of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on February 25, 2009 at the Oakland Manor in Oakland, Iowa.

Lucille Clara Anderson Carley, one of seven children of Anton and Louisa (Torneten) Tiarks, was born at her parent's farm home near McClelland, Iowa on April 27, 1916. She attended country school near her home and graduated in 1933 from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Lucille and William Robert "Bob" Anderson of Underwood, Iowa were married on November 23, 1937, and made their first home in Corpus Christi, Texas. The following year, they returned to farm in the McClelland area. In 1945, they were able to purchase a farm near McClelland where they fed cattle and farmed. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Janel Marie. Lucille was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Council Bluffs. She loved her family and loved being a homemaker. She was an outstanding cook, baker, and seamstress. She loved baking for her family and especially enjoyed sewing for her granddaughters.

Lucille and Bob had been married 39 years when Bob died from cancer in 1976. Lucille continued to live on the farm until moving to an apartment in Council Bluffs in 1979. There she met Marion Carley and they were married on June 10, 1989. They continued to live in Council Bluffs and enjoyed the activities of their combined families. Lucille's health began to fail, and in 2006, she moved to the Oakland Manor, in Oakland, Iowa.

Lucille and Marion had been married nearly 20 years when Lucille died at the Oakland Manor. She had attained the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 28 days. In addition to her first husband, Bob, Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marie Howard and husband Ed, Laura Iversen and husband Reuben, Edna McBride and her husband Roy; brothers, Henry Tiarks and wife Bonnie and Donald Tiarks.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Marion Carley of Walnut, IA; daughter, Janel Allen and her husband Larry of Carson; grandchildren, Kimberly Frain and husband Darrell of Creston, Iowa, Barbara Masters and husband Todd of Leon, Iowa, Becky Addleman of Lawson, Missouri, Sandra Smith and husband Brent of Winterset, Iowa, and Kevin Allen and wife Melissa of Treynor, Iowa; 16 great grandchildren; sister Margaret Havens of Sun Valley, California; sister-in-law Jo Ann Tiarks of McClelland; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

"Uncle Larry and Aunt Janel and all the Kids--We are so sorry to hear about Grandma Ceile!! We truely loved her like she was our own grandma and you know this. I remember all the stays in Council Bluffs with Becky and Grandma and having a whole pie to ourselves!! She was an awesome cook and baker!!
