Joyce Elaine Edic, one of two children of Keith Robert Peters and Julaine Alice (Perkins) Christians, was born on October 10, 1963 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She grew up in Carson, Iowa and graduated from Carson-Macedonia High School in 1982. Joyce attended Stewart's Cosmetology School in Council Bluffs and worked at a salon for a short time before taking a position at Mutual of Omaha. There she started on the switchboard and quickly worked her way up through the communications department.
On December 29, 1984, Joyce and Cory Michael Edic were married at the Carson Presbyterian Church. They made their home in Carson and were blessed with a son, Mitchel Rian. The family were members of the Carson Presbyterian Church and Joyce enjoyed camping, taking photos, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
In 2000, Joyce took a position with ConAgra where she managed the voice services department and handled all the business cell phone and wireless accounts across the country. In 2010, Joyce's health forced her to retire. She and Cory had been married 26 years when Joyce died at their Carson home on February 17, 2011, at the age of 47 years, 4 months, and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her father, Keith Peters.
Joyce is survived by her husband Cory Edic of Carson; son Mitch Edic and Abbie Poort of Council Bluffs, IA; parents, Julaine and Bill Christians of Carson; step-mother Jo Peters of Council Bluffs; sister Robin Spitznagle and husband Jim of Council Bluffs; step-brothers, Eric Christians and wife Blanca of Carson, and Tim Christians and wife Wanda of Syracuse, NE; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
