Leanna M. Janssen

Leanna Marie Janssen, one of thirteen children of Caleb Fisher and Lulu Myrtle (Piatt) Fisher, was born on January 10, 1930, in Pacific Junction, Iowa. She attended school in Pacific Junction and graduated in 1948.

On June 15, 1948, Leanna and Edward Howard Janssen were united in marriage in Creston, Iowa. They made their home in Pacific Junction and their marriage was blessed with seven children, Lulu Marie, Nancy Dale, Caleb Edward, Lola Evelyn, Mary Lou, Loyd Lee, and Leonard Dean. Leanna enjoyed being a mother and housewife and after the children were grown, worked for 15 years at the Glenwood State Hospital School as a night watchman. She and Ed enjoyed many vacations by way of Amtrak. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and playing bingo. Leanna had quite a sense of humor and liked to play practical jokes on people and draw her special little pictures for everyone.

Leanna and Ed had been married 55 years when Ed died at Glen Haven in Glenwood, Iowa on July 5, 2003. Leanna continued to live in her home until moving on December 27, 2010 to the Tabor Manor, where she passed away on May 5, 2011. She had attained the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 25 days.

Leanna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant daughter, Mary Lou; brothers, Benjamin, Lewis, Leonard, Lorren, Loyd, Dale, Lou Dean, and Larry; and sisters, Deloma, Lila, Lola, and Daisy.

She is survived by her children, Lulu Truhlicka and husband Frank of Fargo, North Dakota, Nancy Anglen of Pacific Junction, Iowa, Caleb Janssen and wife Elida of Port Orange, Florida, Lola Michaelsen and husband Harry, and Loyd Janssen and wife Brigitte, all of Pacific Junction, and Leonard Janssen and wife Tracey of Niceville, Florida; 20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established.
