AnnaBelle Caryl, 87, of Burlington, died at 6:41 p.m. April 6, 2012 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born on February 28, 1925 in Humboldt, Iowa she was the daughter of Calvin Pearl and Bertha (Newbrough) Gochenouer. She married William Daniel Caryl. He preceded her in death.
After earning her LPN license Mrs. Caryl worked in Ottumwa and Des Moines. She then earned her RN in Mason City where she worked in Cardiac Care. She was the utilizer/coordinator for St. Francis Nursing Home in Burlington.
She loved to read and paint, playing dominos, crafting, crocheting, jewelry making, cooking and baking. She enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. She was very proud of the fact that she taught exercise classes at Freidenheim Community, where she resided.
Survivors include two sons, William Daniel Caryl Jr. of Burlington and Thomas Roy Caryl of Clear Lake; two grandsons, Daniel Caryl and Shawn Caryl; three great-grandsons; one brother, George Gochenouer of Cedar Rapids and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.
According to Mrs. Caryl's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service or visitation and cremation has been accorded. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Union Cemetery, Humboldt, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Opportunity Village, PO Box 622, Clear Lake, Iowa, which serves people with disabilities.
