"We all miss you Shannon. All of us thank you. She saved my young nephew a long time ago. This a story no one knows, that was the person she was and always will be."
Waunakee-Shannon Christine Maly, formally Shannon Petrick passed away after a long battle with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Though limited, Shannon enjoyed attending her children's tennis, gymnastic, baseball and football games. She really enjoyed the trips "Up North" to the family cabin in St. Germain. She would sit and read for hours on the dock or take a ride on the pontoon to watch her children swim and tube. Shannon loved to crochet, do stamping and making homemade cards for her friends and family. Everyone knew when Shannon was at a family function or any party. She lit up the room and was known to "talk a blue streak". Shannon graduated from Waunakee High School in 1988. She has had a variety of jobs, but always loved children. She taught at the Waunakee Manor Daycare for years and had her own daycare. Even after the Ehlers took over she continued to care for a special friend's child afterschool. Shannon was united in marriage with Mark Maly on September 8, 1990 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Waunakee. Their children were the light of Shannon's life, with daily trips to parks, museums and the zoo always on the schedule. Our beloved Shannon is survived by her husband, Mark; daughter Kristina; son Brett; her parents, Gary and Carol (Stratford) Petrick; siblings, Gary (Nancy) Petrick, Dane, Connie Esser, Oregon, Jeremy (Dana) Petrick, Waunakee; father-in-law, Raymond Maly, Waunakee; brothers-in-law, Steve Maly, Mike (Laurie) Maly, Scott (Michelle) Maly, all of Waunakee; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and friend, Virginia "Ginger" Maly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 5460 Mary Lake Road, Westport. Visitation will be held at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, Waunakee on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 5-7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
