Services will be Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will be at the Murray Cemetery. Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in care of her family.
Helen May Crabb was born May 27, 1922 in Clarke Co., IA to Elmer "Jay" Crabb and Pearl E. (Weldon) Crabb. She was married to Frank E. McMurtrey November 22, 1940, and this union was blessed with three daughters; Jayne (Merle) Conrad of Chariton; Nancee (J.R.) Seifert and Patricia (David) Fenn of Murray, all of who survive to cherish her memory. She went to be with her Lord and Savior April 19, 2012 at the age of 89 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
She was married to Richard E. Stutzman November 26, 1950 and they lived in Mt. Pleasant, Murray and near Chariton for many years. He preceded her in death November 24, 1991. She was a member of Full Faith Christian Center in Chariton and loved her Church Family very much. She was an avid gardener and loved working outside, going to yard sales, prizing her "Pink Girl" tomatoes. She also loved the Great Smoky Mountains. No one was ever a "stranger" to her, as she loved sharing the Word of God with everyone.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Everett J. Crabb of Eugene, OR, and a sister Arlene Wilson of Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by a brother, Robert (Patty) Woodside and a sister, Patricia (Robert) Dameron, both of Burlington; along with nieces and nephews.
Ten grandchildren also blessed her life; Steven Conrad (stillborn), Buddy (Kim) Conrad of Chariton, Traci Malloy of State Center, Steffani Brooks, of Indianapolis, IN, Cristian (Sherry) Fuller, Pleasant Valley, AZ, Wende (Steve) Fenn of Manilla, Chelle (Brian) Haule of Des Moines, Chip Fenn of Deloit, Chad (Katie) Fenn, of Radcliffe, and Brandi (Jon) Fenn of Denison. There are also 16 great grandchildren who survive her.
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an echo...whispering softly down the ways of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa with visitation at 1:00 p.m.. Her Paster, Coleen Benway and Josh Benway will officiate. "No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus:, Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Amazing Grace" will be sung by David & Kristin Tyree. Burial will follow in Murray Cemetery, Murray, Iowa, where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Richard. Her grandsons; Buddy Conrad, Chip & Chad Fenn, Brian Haule, Steve Lingel, and Jon Krajacek, will be her pallbearers. Memorials are in Care of Helen's Family.
