Jarla Jane Pawelski

Jarla J. Pawelski of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away on April 19, 2012. She was born in Iowa on October 30, 1930 to Roy and Martha (Kumpf) Meitrodt. On March 22, 1952 she married E.J. (Bob) Pawelski, who preceded her in death in 1976. She worked many years for GTE and retired in 1991. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her three children, Michael (Janet) Pawelski, Karen (Carl) Opitz, and Paul Pawelski, four grandchildren, Robert (Adele) Polley, Kristen (Troy) Bystol, Tricia and Robert Pawelski, two step-grandchildren, C.J. (Becky) and Brian Opitz; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jared and Nicolas Polley, Alex Opitz and Payton, Parker and Morgan Bystol. She is also survived by a brother, Wayne (Ardis) Meitrodt, brothers-in-law Tom Knox and George Pawelski and sisters-in-law Sally Pawelski, Barbara Pawelski and Sister Mary Maura. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and sisters, Melba Knox and Bernice Schmitz and brothers-in-law David, Raymond, Richard, and James Pawelski and Bill Schmitz, and sister-in-law Diane Pawelski. Services will be held at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 221 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie, on Wednesday, April 25 at 12:00 noon, with Msgr. Duane R. Moellenberndt presiding. Visitation will be at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Tuesday April 24 from 5-8:00 pm, as well as from 11-12:00 noon prior to the funeral mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages Memorials be made to Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund or Southern Care Hospice.
