Dean W. Curry
March 28, 1928 - April 29, 2012

Dean W. Curry, age 84, of Spirit Lake, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, at his home in Spirit Lake. He was born on March 28, 1928, in Spencer, Iowa, to Earl and Doris (Williams) Curry.

Dean served his country in the United States Merchant Marines from 1944, until 1946, and the United States Army from 1949, until 1951, where he earned a Purple Heart. He was united in marriage to Marie "Sally" Reed on October 10, 1952, in Jackson, Minnesota.

He worked for H and N in Spencer, and later owned and operated Dean's Garage for many years. Dean enjoyed spending his spare time fishing and hunting.

Dean is survived by his wife, Sally Curry of Spirit Lake; three sons, Joe Curry of Mountain Home, Idaho, Kit Curry, and his wife, Sandy, of Portland, Oregon, and Kelly Curry of Federal Way, Washington; a daughter, Tracy Johnson, and her husband, Jim, of Spirit Lake; a brother, Earl Curry Jr., and his wife, Effie, of Spencer; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two sisters.

There will be no formal services held at this time for Dean.
