In loving memory of

Fred Boesel
January 27, 1931 - June 9, 2012

Fred E. Boesel was born on January 27, 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Esther and Fred W. Boesel. He was the oldest of three children. They lived in North St. Paul, Minnesota where he later met his loving wife, Lois and he knew from the moment he saw her that she was the one he wanted to marry. Lois and Fred were married on August 19, 1950 at Christ Lutheran Church in North St. Paul. The Lord blessed them with nine children, (Infant son Eugene went home to be with the Lord in 1951.) During their years in North St. Paul, Fred worked for the North St. Paul-Maplewood Schools as a bus driver and later was manager of the school district's warehouse.

In 1971, Fred and Lois and their family moved to their beloved farm in Scandia. The family began to grow once again, and their role as "grandparents" began. A role they dearly loved! The farm was a great place to entertain 11 grandchildren! Fred enjoyed teaching them all he knew about farming from raising cattle to planting and harvesting crops with of course, IH tractors and equipment.

Celebrating Lois' birthday in the fall was also a very special time for the family as they enjoyed the annual Boesel Hayride! They also added a springtime hayride, too!

Fred and Lois shared 57 loving years together. They were a beautiful example to their children and grandchildren of a committed husband and wife as they openly shared their deep affection with one another. One of Fred and Lois' favorite pastimes was old time dancing. They traveled to many polka fests in Minnesota, the Dakotas, Wisconsin, and Iowa. A very special memory of the family was watching Mom and Dad dance to their favorite song, "Blue Skirt Waltz" on their 50th Wedding Anniversary! They were truly Best Friends!

In 2000, Lois and Fred built their dream home on the hill overlooking the St. Croix River Valley. Again their family grew with more babies for Fred and Lois to love... 13 great-grandchildren!

Fred spent the next few years buying and selling farm machinery. In December, 2006, he suffered from a severe accident while unloading a hay wagon. He spent many months away from home recuperating. He came home in September, 2007. In less than a month, his beloved wife Lois went home to be with the Lord which broke his heart. But he was determined to go on for his children's sake. Fred's favorite saying became "mind over matter" as he struggled to walk again. He remained in his wheel chair, but was blessed to spend the last few years of his life in their "dream home." A special thank you to all his caregivers... without each and everyone of you it wouldn't have been possible!

Now Fred and Lois are together again in their "Heavenly home" dancing forever. Praise the Lord!

Funeral 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 13th at Elim Lutheran Church, 20971 Olinda Trail No., Scandia with visitation beginning at 9 AM. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Mahtomedi, MN.
