Melvin A. Erickson
August 4, 1932 - July 13, 2012

Melvin A. Erickson, age 79, of Arnolds Park, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at Lakes Regional Healthcare. He was born on August 4, 1932, in Plainview, Nebraska, to Hans and Eva (Howard) Ericksen.
Melvin graduated from high school in 1950. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952, until 1974. Melvin was united in marriage to Carole Grim on July 7, 1957, in Spanaway, Washington. Carole passed away on September 13, 2010. He worked as an Electrical Engineer in the United States Armed Services and for private contractors for many years.
Melvin was a member of Twilight Lodge #329, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Shriner's International and the American Legion. He enjoyed spending his spare time golfing and fishing.
Melvin is survived by his two daughters, Vickie Hooper, and her husband, Robert, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lori Ogles, and her husband, Ricky, of Niceville, Florida; a sister, Donna Olenkamp, and her husband, Daryl, of Sioux City; two brothers, Harold Erichsen, and his wife, Peggy, of McAllen, Texas, and Dean Ericksen, and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carole; three sisters; and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00P.M. Friday, July 20, 2012, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Spirit Lake.
The Schuchert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
