DAVENPORT, Iowa--Al "Alvin" James Collins Jr., 69, of Milan, Illinois, died on Sunday, August 26, 2012, at the Manor Care Health Services, Davenport.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial will take place in Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, with a masonic service recited at 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Al was born on October 11, 1942, in Champaign, Illinois, the son of Alvin Sr. and Pauline Dyer Collins. He married Pat Tiecke on March 20, 1998, in Muscatine.

Al was a U.S. Navy veteran, who served in Vietnam.

He worked as a machine repairman at the Rock Island Arsenal for 14 years, retiring in 1998.

He was a member of several A.B.A.T.E. Chapters in the Quad Cities, the American Motorcycle Association, and the Trio Lodge No. 57 A.F. and A.M., Rock Island.

Al's enjoyments in life were shooting, and riding and working on motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Collins of Milan, Illinois; his children, AJ Collins III and wife, Irina, of Stockton, Cindy Collins of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Stacy McCabe and husband, Tony, of Griffith, Indiana; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Gloria Byers and husband, Paul, of Medaryville, Indiana, and Cynthia Partikal and husband, Ron, of Burr Ridge, Illinois; and brothers, David Collins and wife, Kathy, of Evansville, Wisconsin, Gary Collins of Maquon, Illinois, and Robin Collins and wife, Pam, of Staples, Minnestoa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
