Kathleen "Kay" Rohling, 96, of Lost Nation, Iowa, died on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa.
A mass celebrating "Kay's" life will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, August 31, 2012, from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation, Iowa. Visitation will be held prior to the mass from 9 A.M. until service time. Burial will be in the Lost Nation, Iowa Cemetery.
Kathleen "Kay" Regenwether was born on April 14, 1916 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Michael and Catherine (Sprank) Regenwether. She was a graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married Wilfred P. Rohling on January 30, 1940 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1984.
"Kay" was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the Lost Nation area for many years.
"Kay" was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and gardening.
"Kay" is survived by her children, John (Joyce) Rohling of Lost Nation, IA, Joe (Bev) Rohling of Lost Nation, IA, and Judy Neis of Iowa City, IA; 4 grandchildren, Brandi Slattery, Maria Neis, Mary Stecklein and Joey Rohling; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers, Sylvester, Clarence, Leo and William Regenwether, and 4 sisters, Eileen Schooley, Lucille Fishwild, Mary Scott and Helen Alessio.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Kathleen "Kay" Rohling memorial fund has been established.
"Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Wheatland Manor and the hospice nurses of Clinton County for their wonderful and loving care. She considered that to be her home and all of the caregivers her extended family."
