Ruth Anne Dykman
October 24, 1915 - September 23, 2012

Madison - Ruth Anne Dykman, age 96, died Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on October 24, 1915, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Fielder) Piper.

Ruth Anne had a vibrant alto voice and sang professionally as well as taught for many years. She was an accomplished tailor, sewing clothes for herself and for her family. On every vacation she would take her pastels and could be seen sitting outside, drawing whatever natural subject she found beautiful. Her family and friends received poems and hand-made cards for their birthdays, and many important stages in her life were recorded in poetic form. She was active in her children's and grandchildren's lives and counted that role her most important.

Survivors include her children, Charles Dykman (Bonnie), Peter Dykman (Barbara), Mary Hamre (Jim), and Erika Osteraas (John); her grandchildren Heather Bourne (Ian Pilarczyk),Jon Dykman, Nicholas Osteraas, Jennifer Dykman, Sarah Osteraas; and great granddaughters Samantha and Emma Pilarczyk.

Ruth Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Dykman; her sisters Helen Andrews and Dorothy Kuechmann; and her grandson Michael Bourne.

A memorial service will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE UNIVERSITY WOODS, Resurrection Chapel, 6205 Mineral Point Rd. Madison, on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WERN or to the local chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota's scholarship fund.
