"I remember Greg from the time I was a child and Dad would take us to the Albia Sale barn for the St. Mary's auction. Greg had this booming voice that I will never forget. I was back home recently and heard that voice and knew it was Greg. I'm so glad I was able to visit with him. He was so full of life, I can't believe he is gone. He was an Albia icon that defined "hometown". "
"Greg's life touch me in such a positive way. He was firm, strong, no nonsense and yet gracious and merciful. His laughter could not be mistaken, his voice was commanding-he was humble, always willing to help others. I was his teacher-his professional peer and associate and honored to be his friend. I will miss him so-my deepest sympathy to Jackie and his children-I taste the salt of your tears."

"I am sending my love and prayers to Jackie and family. One of my best childhood memories was playing with cousins at our grandmothers ( and Greg's aunt Bernice Peterson's) house. Greg was a great Catholic at a young age. He would don make-believe priest clothing and using our grandmother's candy dish would dispense communion to all the pretend nuns in attendance which included his sister Barb, and cousins Cathy, Patty, Shelia and myself. The good thing about good memories, they make us giggle and smile even when we are sad. "
"The auctioneering world had lost a great man. In the 31 years I knew Greg, he was always bubbly, joking but yet serious about my business and the auction business. My condolences to the family."
"Prayers go out for both Greg and Jackie and their extended family. Greg was a one-of-a-kind man with a caring personality. He was always energetic and quick-witted. I saw Greg two weeks ago in Albia and he was positive and friendly as usual, hosting a unique golf tournament (the One-Eye Open), raising money for returning members of the US Military. Greg touched more lives than most people do in their lifetime. I am sad at his passing but I rejoice at the way he lived his life. Albia has lost a great friend and work-horse citizen. I lost a cousin who was always a mature voice in my ear, offering advice in a friendly yet persuasive manner. I thank him now for always being so kind and thoughtful to my mother, Helen Schleier (Peterson)."
"Greg was a true giant of a man, he will truly be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Don and Mary Carr"
"I was so sorry to hear that we had lost Greg. I will always remember his friendly and upbeat personality and the great stories he would tell. He was a treat for all of the cousins visiting from Texas. He always made us feel welcome and at home in Albia. Whenever I hear an auctioneer I think of Greg and his fast-talking ways. Love to his family and to the Morheads and Petersond from his family in Texas. Laura Peterson Elkind"
"Deb, so sorry about your brother. I can't say I know how you feel since it is different for everyone, but I do know how it is to lose a brother and my heart goes out to you. Many prayers are being sent up for you and all your family at this very difficult time. Virginia Maine Omaha NE"
