Walter Birk, of Rhinelander, died Monday, November 12, 2012 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Antigo. He was 70 years old. He was born on June 26, 1942 in Milwaukee a son of Edwin and Gladys (Halkey) Birk. He married Marilyn Mueller on September 24, 1983 in Milwaukee. She survives.
Mr. Birk moved to Clearwater Lake in 1992 and owned and operated The Old Stag Restaurant until retiring in 2007.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Aaron Vasholz, Aurora, CO; a nephew, Richard (Joan Hawley) Schluge; and a niece, Vicki (Robert) Kuenzi.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Schluge.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
