In loving memory of

Linda Elizabeth Cook
December 8, 1942 - November 18, 2012

Linda Elizabeth (Boruff) Cook, was born December 8, 1942, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was the eldest child of Marion J. and Joyce Avice (Briggs) Boruff. Linda grew up in Carson, and attended school there, graduating from Carson-Macedonia High School in 1960. Linda passed away on November 18, 2012, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 10 days, at her home in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by her loving family, following a long illness.

Following graduation, Linda began working as Secretary to the Pottawattamie County Superintendent of Schools in Council Bluffs. On April 15, 1961, Linda was united in marriage to Larry D. Cook, at the Methodist Church in Carson. To this union, three children were born, David, Elizabeth and Debra.

Linda and Larry resided in Council Bluffs, until 1973, at which time Larry's employment took them to Seattle, Washington, where Linda worked at the Boeing Company, in an administrative position, until August of 1976, when Larry was transferred to Philadelphia. The family lived in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Linda was employed by Campbell Soup Company in Camden and later with Insurance Company of North America, in Voorhees. In the summer of 1979, Larry was transferred to Omaha and Linda was also able to transfer to a position with INA in Omaha. In December 1979, Larry's employment took him to Washington D.C., where Linda gained employment with Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, Virginia. In 1983, when Larry was transferred to Little Rock, Arkansas, Linda decided she no longer wanted to start over with another career and she became a full time homemaker. After only one year in Arkansas, Larry and Linda moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where they resided until 1985, when they were transferred for the last time to Omaha, Nebraska, and they have lived since that time.

Linda grew to fully enjoy her role as a homemaker and her favorite past times included golf, cross stitch, canning fresh vegetables and working in her yard during the summer months. She was an avid sports participant during her high school years, participating in softball and basketball. Throughout her entire adult life, Linda also enjoyed many spectator sports, following her favorite college and professional teams. She loved spending time with her family, and was especially fond of her grandchildren.

Linda was preceded in death by infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann, her parents, and sister Joyce Hackett. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Larry; son David (Paula) of Mary Esther, FL; daughter Debra MacDonald of Omaha; grandchildren, Tanner, Krystina, Lyndsay, Conner, Ian and great grandson Cameron; sister Julie (Harold) Baker of Liberty, MO; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Debbie MacDonald wrote on Jan 18, 2013:

"My mom is the person I admire most. she was always there for us growing up. shed cheer us on at swimming and anything else we chose to do. she was there with me when my girls were born (she was my coach). she loved all of us unconditionally. She didn't deserve to become ill and be in pain like she was for so long. Makes one question their faith when bad things happen to GREAT people and good families. My mom was truly the best and I miss her dearly."
