In loving memory of

Laura J. Gorski
November 18, 1921 - November 27, 2012

Madison - Laura J. Gorski, age 91, passed away unexpectedly November 27. A longtime resident of Detroit and Troy Michigan, Laura worked for many years as an office manager and pension director for the Amalgamated Meatcutters and Butcher Workmen of North America. After retirement, she kept busy by working at the Troy City Hall, and, upon her move to Venice, Florida, by volunteering at a local medical center. Ultimately, finding Florida "too quiet," Laura joined family in Madison, where she found the energy level more to her liking.
A talented musician, Laura played the piano and organ by ear and could play almost any instrument at hand. She was an avid football and hockey fan--becoming particularly fond of the Green Bay Packers once she came to Wisconsin. Although she never owned her own home or tended a backyard garden, she beautified every balcony attached to her apartment homes with cascades of carefully chosen flowers and vines. In her later years she spent much of her free time working crossword puzzles and exercising.
She was everyone's favorite aunt, following in detail the studies and activities of her adored grand and great grand nephews and nieces. The family particularly wishes to thank Dr. David Watts and the other physicians and medical personnel at the U.W. Geriatric Clinic for their attentive care enabling Laura to live her long and active life. Remarkably strong and self-sufficient, Laura was much loved and will be missed by her many friends and family. Services for Laura will be private.
