Dorothy Birdie Stiemke, age 90 passed away Monday, December 4, 2012 at Kindred Heart Assisted Living in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin where she had resided for the last 11 months. She was born in Madison on April 1, 1922 to Hans K and Birdie Krueger Anderson one of fifteen children all having preceded her in death.

Dorothy was first united in marriage to John Steiner and then to Oscar Stiemke from the Oconomowoc area and they preceded her in death. She worked for many years at the Masonic Temple in Dousman, Wisconsin and later at a small nursing home in Oconomowoc which she loved. Dorothy's life revolved around helping others; she did not like it when others had to help her. She also tried to do as much as she could for herself. She had a heart of gold and her family was her whole life. She was also never afraid to say what was on her mind.

Dorothy moved to Deerfield in 1993 with the encouragement of her family. She loved playing bingo at the Deerfield Fire Station and Community Center. Her best days where when she had visits from her nieces, nephews and family.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Deerfield Lutheran Church, 206 South Main Street, Deerfield, Wisconsin with Rev Larry Sexe officiating. Family will gather and greet friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona.

Dorothy's family would like to thank Agrace Hospice for the loving, dignified care they gave her. We especially want to thank the staff at Kindred Heart. You are all angels, thank you so much for making Dorothy feel at home and well cared for. Dorothy always had good things to say about all of you. You will always be very special in her heart. Thank you to Kristin B for all you have done to help Dorothy, the visits and phone calls. And Gail, we will never be able to thank you for everything you did for Dorothy and for always caring and being there for her. She loved you as much as she loved her family. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of Dorothy's life. We will miss you Dorothy and we love you so much!
