Eugene B. Klaver, 89, of Webster City, died Friday, January 11, 2013 at Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Community Church, with Rev. Peter Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery, east of Kamrar. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191.
Eugene Benard Klaver, son of George and Anna Welp Klaver, was born May 7, 1923 at Kamrar. He attended Kamrar Public School and graduated from there. From August 1944 to January 1946, he served with the U.S. Army - 183rd Ordnance Depot Company. He served in the Pacific Theatre of Action. On September 5, 1950, he married Marguerite Jean Brinkema at Kamrar. The couple resided in Kamrar. For several years, he worked as a rural mail carrier and clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. He had also worked for the Brill Farm-Seed Store. He retired in 1972. In 1975, they moved to Webster City. Marguerite died January 2, 1984.
Mr. Klaver is survived by his daughter, Barbara; brother, Darrell Klaver of Webster City; brother-in-law, Boyd Berven of Webster City; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eugene and Ardys Hendrickson of Radcliffe; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Klaver and Ruth Berven.
He was a member of the Community Church at Kamrar; Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post# 191.

"Barb, We all remember uncle Gene with fond memories - Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at the farm with his home made kringla and mincemeat pie, coffee times together in Webster and church services. He was alway so full of life and fun to talk to -- even when we joked over political differences! We will miss him very much and think of hin often.
