" She is but a rose, hiding, washed in colors, pink. Petals . . . amongst Baby's Breath, White. Buried in a garden, deep where lovelies do proclaim their beauty bare. She hides . . . where none can see through flowers, bold. Her thorns, small, fragrance - sweet. Hidden, by choice in the shade of her own, that she may sing in a gentle voice for only God to hear. A Rose Hiding - (written for Connie in 2006, "A Stronger Grace" ."

Sonya granddaughter wrote on Jan 20, 2013:

"I will always remember our trips from Michigan to Maine in the motorhome! We always had tons of food. It was a picnic on wheels. As soon as we finished breakfast you were already prepparing lunch. I Look around my house now and see signs of you everywhere. From sewing machines you bought me to bouyes outside to jars of seaglass on the shelf and shells everywhere. Maine is also most importantly where you drove me to Bar Harbor to find my husband of 17 yrs. Denilson. Without you none of my happiness would exist. I hope to one day retire to Maine like you did."

Sonya grandaughter wrote on Jan 20, 2013:

"Domie you are the reason I work at Fox studio because I learned to sew on the machine you bought me after high school. I also have a deep love for beachcombing on higgens beach for seaglass and cooking lobster. My fondest memories of my childhood are in Maine picking blueberries on pilot point rd.for you to make pancakes to eat on your beautiful fiestaware then we would walk down to the little beaches to look for blue seaglass then we would go to rudys to buy italian sandwiches and humpty dumpty potato chips to bring to higgens beach. Back at the cottage you put newspaper on the table for our feast of lobstah and steamahs with buttah. The perfect day with you ended with the sound of the lighthouse echoing over Cape Elizabeth. I am sure you are with Gra gra and Grampy in Maine finally in peace where you love to be the most. P.S. remember you laughed until you cried telling us the story about a game show when the contestant was named G ma. And when she won the husband came running down and the host said this must be G pa!!!!!! You have an unforgettable laugh. Until we meet again. I love you Domie"
