Betty Ann Bingham was born February 14, 1932 to Evert and Olive (Godfrey) Bingham in rural Marion County, Iowa. She was raised in Dallas and graduated from Dallas High School in 1952. While working at Schimdty's Donut Shop in Des Moines Betty met Jim Waters. They were married on November 26, 1961 at the Dallas Christian Church. They were blessed with three children: Michele, Robert, and Darwin "Scott".
Jim and Betty made their home in Melcher-Dallas where they raised their children. She enjoyed children and ran a day care facility out of her home for 18 years touching many peoples' lives in the process. Betty was a wonderful mother, she was always involved in all her children's activities and loved to spend time with all her family especially her grandchildren who will remember being treated to her homemade cookies and candy. Betty enjoyed her garden and canning and playing cards with her family. She will be remembered as feisty and spunky and maybe a little outspoken and strong willed. She was very involved in the community and especially liked to supply the Election Day cookies and also donated faithfully to the many blood drives.
Betty passed away January 15, 2013 at the Legacy Lodge Hospice in Chariton at the age of 80 years. Preceding her in death were her parents: Evert and Olive; and her brother, Irvin Bingham.
Betty is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jim Waters; children: Michele (Gaylon) Peterson of Cumming, Robert (Pam) Waters of Des Moines, and Darwin "Scott" (Tammy) Waters of Harvey; two grandchildren: Nick and Jack; and siblings: Barbara (Roger) Kelsheimer and Marvin (Fonda) Bingham. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

"Jim our hearts go out to you and your family. You probably didn't know it but Betty and you always had a special place in my heart. I always admired how you lived your life and the morals you two displayed, without a word spoken. "

"Jim, Michele, Robert and Scott - I am very sorry to hear about Betty passing away. It is hard to lose a beloved family member. I have many fond memories of spending time with your family as I was growing up. I remember Betty always in the kitchen cooking and watching her little TV! I also remember the fun of going on family picnics with all of you and enjoying the lunches that Betty prepared. I hope that you can find peace in knowing that she is in a better place and free of pain."

"Dear Waters Family, I was sad to hear of Betty's passing. My mind immediately went to my youth. Endless hours at your house playing softball in the back yard (how did we not break a window?), writing a civil war report at the kitchen table, playing twister in the living room, make up and hair at the vanity in Michele's room, and sleepovers in the 'club' house. Always being taken care of with drinks and snacks and smiles. Bless you all during this time. Lean on your friends and family to put the pieces back together. Love, Rosemary (Stierwalt) Dunston / Santa Fe-New Mexico "
