David L. Cannon
March 23, 1952 - January 30, 2013

David Lee Cannon was born on March 23, 1952, in Windom, Minnesota to Carl and Velma (Fletcher) Cannon. He was baptized at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. He received his education from the Windom Public Schools. In October of 1972, David was one of the last drafted in the Army in Cottonwood County and served until being honorably discharged in 1974.

On May 12, 1973, David was united in marriage to Karen Refsland in Windom. They had two children, Lyschel and Wade. The marriage was later dissolved.

On July 24, 2010, David was united in marriage to Willy Koch in Windom. After their marriage, David and Willy continued to live in Windom. In November of 2012, David was diagnosed with lung cancer. He passed away on Wednesday morning, January 30, 2013 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with his family by his side at the age of 60.

David worked at Toro for forty-three years as a welder. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. He loved woodworking and carving many things. He also loved fishing, hunting small game, using his metal detector, camping and sitting around campfires, and canoeing on lakes. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Willy Cannon of Windom; two children, Lyschel Cannon and Martin Torres of Okabena and Wade Cannon of Windom; two step-children, Leah Bjorkland and her husband, Sam, of Bingham Lake and P.J. Koch of Windom; eight grandchildren, Thalia, Diego, Rakkel, Pedro, Esteban, Mateo, Miles, and Nathanial; three sisters, Lola Troutman and her husband, Larry, of Dekalb, IL; Gloria Anderson and her husband, Jim, of Bingham Lake; and Sharon Doherty and her husband, Leo, of Windom; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Jerry Risgard.
