Jerry Dean Hurley
May 27, 1935 - March 19, 2012

Jerry Hurley was born May 27, 1935 on a farm near Pocahontas, Iowa, the son of Homer and Dorothy (Bates) Hurley. Jerry was a 1956 graduate of Emmetsburg Catholic High School, and following his education, he served two years in the United States Army, stationed in Alaska.

On February 14, 1961, Jerry was united in marriage to Wilma DeMoss at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Jerry worked for the Ben Franklin Store while in high school. He later worked for Anderson Construction, Emmetsburg Ready Mix and Pamline all of Emmetsburg in addition to farming. He spent 20 years in Estherville and seven years in Sioux Falls, SD with John Morrell. Following his employment there, Jerry worked at Humboldt Sausage Company in Humboldt, IA for 20 years.

Jerry enjoyed his family and all of the family gatherings. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he had many fond memories fishing with his family. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Jerry went to meet his Lord Monday, March 19, 2012. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wilma of Emmetsburg; two daughters: Julie Moen (Joe) of Armstrong, IA and Janice Kunz (Jay) of Emmetsburg; son, Steve Hurley of Emmetsburg; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Dorothy Hurley.
