Barry Rand
July 25, 1949 - February 17, 2013

Barry Edward Rand was born on July 25, 1949, to Gordon and Gloria (Quade) Rand in Springfield, Minnesota. He was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers, Minnesota and later confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. He received his education from Marshall High School. In 1969, Barry enlisted in the United States Army where he served until being honorably discharged in 1971.

In 1974, Barry was united in marriage to Valerie Voss. To this marriage were two sons, Ryan and Matthew. This marriage was later dissolved in 1979. Barry worked at Marshall Northwest Pipes and Marshall Water Sanitation before moving to Jeffers. After Barry had moved to Jeffers, he began working at the Slipper in Jeffers and worked there for over twenty years. He retired from there in 2011.

Barry passed away at his home in Jeffers on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the age of 63.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening, working with wood and reading books.

He is survived by two sons, Ryan Edward Rand and his wife, Amy, of Stockton and Matthew John Rand of Marshall; two grandchildren, Kaylee and Emily Rand; one sister, Denise Dahlheimer and her husband, Duane, of St. Cloud; five nieces and nephews, Chad, Kelly, Megan, Timothy and McKenzie; aunts and uncles, Wallace and Phyllis Rand and Wallace and Colleen Hedman; and several other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and two sisters, Mary Jo Rand and Lori (Rand) Swanson.
