Betty Jacobson

Elizabeth "Betty" Jacobson was born on February 21, 1910, in a train depot to the late Roland and Ella (Bowers) Heard in Marathon, Iowa. She was confirmed at and a dedicated member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Betty was the seventh child of a family of 13 and was raised in Tracy, Minnesota. She moved to Windom after she left home. On January 30, 1942, Betty was united in marriage to Einar Cater Jacobson in Windom. After marriage Betty and Einar continued to live in Windom. Betty worked for Toro for more than 20 years before retiring from there in 1975, but her well known work ethic kept her busy with more than one job at a time, including the Silver Dime Café, Hi-way Café and Sandi's Diner as a waitress; the Frederick Hotel; and Riverside Laundry. Einar passed away on May 24, 1956. Betty continued working after his death, and she lived in her home on Second Avenue for more than 50 years before moving into the Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Society in Windom in November 2004. heran Church and other community activities. With great pleasure, she served for many years with the Grey Ladies and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3844. She took great pride in her home and enjoyed doing yard work, crocheting, listening to Twins games, and being with her friends. Betty's greatest enjoyments over the last 30 years was her close friend, James Lehnhoff. Betty is survived by her special friend, James Lehnhoff of Minneapolis; his parents Karen and Kerry Roediger of Windom; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Einar; brothers, Raymond, William, Donald, Carroll, Ted, Claude, Rex and Jim; and sisters Catherine, Joy, Gladys, and Dolly.
