Edward Kliewer

Edward Kliewer was born on August 23, 1920, on a farm near Delft, Minnesota to Peter and Tina (Unruh) Kliewer. He was baptized and confirmed on January 31, 1954 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. He received his education from Mountain Lake Public School where he graduated with the Class of 1938. After high school, Edward worked in a machine shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before serving in the United States Navy (Pacific) from 1942 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Once he returned he went back to work in Milwaukee and then returned to Mountain Lake. On June 12, 1951, Edward was united in marriage to Edna Karschnik at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. This marriage was blessed with two children, Greg and Kay. After their marriage, Edward and Edna lived in Mountain Lake where Edward owned Kliewer Electric until 1978. In 1992, they moved to Windom where they have lived for over twenty years. Edward's health began to decline recently and he passed away on Friday evening, February 22, 2013 at his home with his family by his side at the age of 92. Edward had many enjoyments in life including woodworking, operating radio controlled airplanes and boats and riding motorcycle. Edward and Edna enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Arizona for nineteen years. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Edna Kliewer of Windom; one son, Greg Kliewer and his girlfriend, Andrea Renken, of Worthington; one daughter, Kay Stevens and her husband, Vern, of Coeur d'Alene, ID; one sister, Winnifred Quiring of Mountain Lake; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Art, David, and Arnold Kliewer; and two sisters, Viola Kliewer Holmes and Annabelle Kliewer Smith. Blessed be the memory of Edward Kliewer.
