Mr. Larry Max Westerbeck, 68, of Burlington was found in his home on Sunday, July 12, 2009.
Born October 28, 1940 in Burlington, he was the son of Max and Fern H. Wolkenhauer Westerbeck. On May 29, 1960 he married Lois Ilene Gerling in Burlington. They later divorced.
Mr. Westerbeck was a 1958 graduate of Burlington High School. He held various positions throughout his career at Leheigh Leopold, the Des Moines County Conservation Board and Pinkerton Security at Burlington Medical Center.
He was of the Christian faith and was a member of First United Church of Christ. Mr. Westerbeck enjoyed model railroading, gardening, being outdoors, camping, listening to oldies music, woodworking, and barbequing. He was an avid fisherman and Elvis fan.
Survivors include two sons, Lamoyne (Melissa) Westerbeck of Burlington and Leon (Tami) Westerbeck of Vail, Arizona; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Janice Hawk of Burlington.
His parents, previous wife, Lois Westerbeck, two grandchildren, Ryan and Sydney Westerbeck, and brother-in-law, Gary Hawk, preceded him in death.
A memorial has been established.
