n West Point, GA and has worked with that organization for over 20 years. Mattie was a member of the Qui Vive Civic Club in Lanett serving as a Co-Chairperson of the Cuisine Committee. Lambda Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. made her an honorary member for supporting them in all of their projects and endeavors for over 30 years. She was united in holy matrimony to John Lee Johnson for over 30 years who preceded her in death in 1973. To this union two daughters were born. They were Shirley Althia Johnson Nelson and Aleatha Marjorie King. She was proceeded in death by her oldest child, Shirley in October 2003. Mattie, who was called by many as "Ms. Mattie" served as a mother/grandmother to many people in her church and community. She was loved and respected for her wisdom and candid advice. She was also known for her good cooking and open-door policy for mealsl at her home. She was a woman full of love. Her memories will forever be engraved in the hearts of her loved ones: a devoted daughter, Mrs. Aleatha Marjorie King, Lanett, Alabama; three loving grandchildren, Mrs. Sonja L. (Calvin Jermaine) Emanuel, Houston, TX, Ms. Cantrece L. Nelson and Ms. Alysia B. King, Lanett; four beautiful great grandchildren, Calvin Justin Emanuel, Houston, TX, Cayla Cheyenne Nelson, Christopher Kylen-Bentley King and Carington Alise Mattia King, Lanett; a dedicated sister, Mrs. Geneva Carter, Lanett; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Effie J. Moore, Silver Spring, Maryland; a nephew reared as a brother-in-law, Mr. Eddie L. Johnson, Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The interment will be in St John Cemetery.
