He was a former member of the Iowa Quarter Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, National Snaffle Bit Association and National Reining Horse Association. He exhibited Quarter horses on a state and national level. He also was owner of A Real Te -- a quarter horse stallion. Larry also participated in semi-pro hockey, Enduro motorcycle racing, snowskiing, racing Hobie Cat sailboats, jumping his quarter horse gelding, "Judge", was a avid golfer and enjoyed the Boone River. He was a strong supporter of the University of Northern Iowa and Missouri State University girls golf teams. At the Links, causal attire was strongly encouraged by Larry.
