bank teller in Melvin, Illinois. She was a musician, studying the piano early, playing in Sunday School at the age of 11 and for church services when she 18. Throughout her life she played for many weddings and funerals. Following the death of her parents, she organized The Waters Family Reunion, an annual gathering held all over the US for nearly thirty years. Winifred was an eye donor to the Iowa Lions Eyebank. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Burlington; a Muscatine District Officer of United Methodist Women while in Morning Sun; she was a past Worthy Matron and 50 year member of Stockport Order of The Eastern Star and an associate member of Burlington Chapter; former member of White Shrine of Jerusalem in Fairfield; the John See Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Stockport Rebekah Lodge #145. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing and quilting, spending time with family and maintaining the history and records of the Waters family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, a grandson, Blane; seven brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Fred Harris of Burlington; two sons; James “Jim” (Diane) Anderson of Chambersburg, PA; and H. Eugene “Gene” (Joy) Anderson of West Burlington; three grandchildren; Jena Pepper, Jim (Brenda) Kalamaja, Kiki (Coy) Chanders and Blane’s wife Heidi Anderson; five great grandchildren - Ruby, Eli, and RosaMae Anderson and Jasey and Tegan Chanders; one sister Pauline Nutsford of Port Hadlock, WA; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Winifred Harris will be Wednesday, September 2nd at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch, at Grace United Methodist Church, Burlington. The Revs. Trevor Davis and Mike Orthel will officiate. Committal service and Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. in Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1st in Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends following a brief Order of the Eastern Star service at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Winifred A.
