Dr. Anthony Mark Kuchan Jr. "Tony"

Passed into eternal life June 14, 2012, age 82. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years Martha Kay (nee VeDepo); his children Mark Kuchan, Cathryn (George) Krall, Christine (Ian) Rotondi, Susanne (Jeff) Schaut and Jeanne Kuchan; his grandchildren Alexandra, Eliese, Daniel, Kayleigh, Abigail, Susanna, Martha, Cassidy, Spencer, George and Samuel; his great grandchildren Sebastian, Eliza and Elaina; brothers Len (Maureen) Kuchan, James Kuchan and David (Carol) Kuchan.Tony was born on April 21, 1930 in Canton, Illinois to Anthony and Loraine Kuchan. After graduating from Canton High School in 1948, he attended St. Ambrose College (Davenport, IA), Bradley University (Peoria, IL), and attained his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Purdue University in 1964. He met Martha Kay VeDepo, his loving wife of 59 years, while at St. Ambrose College and they married on May 9, 1953. His many scholarly publications, honors and awards, grants, professional and service memberships are too extensive to list.He was an active, contributing member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church since 1966. He was a gifted writer, speaker, and an avid wordsmith who loved the English language. He particularly enjoyed working in his yard, playing tennis, taking photographs, listening to music, playing his piano, traveling, and attending the theater, the symphony, and movies with Martha and their friends. Family functions and gatherings were a top priority.He was a man of integrity, discipline, and humor. His kindness, generosity, simplicity, graciousness, and humanitarian efforts have touched and enriched the lives of so many. Always the educator, he taught his family and friends the true meaning of love, loyalty and devotion. Tony, Dad, Papa; we are blessed that you were a part of our lives.
