George Edward Brown, Jr.
TUCSON, Arizona--George Edward Brown, Jr., passed away on February 6, 2013, at UMC Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, after a lengthy illness.
There were no services per his wish.
George was born on January 9, 1925, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of George Edward Brown Sr. and Pansy Almandinger Brown. He married Erma Allen of Columbus Junction, Iowa, in 1944. They were married for 69 years.
George was in the Army in World War II for four years. During 1944 he made D-Day landings in two amphibious operations undertaken by U.S. Forces in the Southwest Pacific.
He worked for H&W Motor Express in Davenport for 14 years before moving to Whetstone, Arizona, in the early 60s where he owned George Brown Construction.
He is survived by his wife, Erma Brown; son, George Brown III and wife, Theresa, of Whetstone, Arizona; his grandchildren, Sarah of Tucson, George Brown IV and Miranda, both of Whetstone; one sister, Pearl McGill Beverlan of Muscatine; also surviving are many nephews, nieces and cousins. George was known throughout the area and will be greatly loved and missed by all.
