Kenny answered God's call to go home on Thursday morning, at the Shenandoah Medical Center. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Farragut Alumni Association or the Farragut Fire and Rescue Department. Kenneth Earl Livingston, 88 years and 1 month, son of Loren and Geneva (Pierce) Livingston, was born on March 5, 1925 on the family farm three miles south of Farragut, Iowa. He answered God's call on April 4, 2013 at the Shenandoah Medical Center following a brief illness. Growing up in rural Farragut, Kenneth received his education from Centennial Country School and Farragut High School. On October 17, 1945 he was united in marriage to Rubye E. Johnson in Sidney, Iowa, while he was home on leave from the Army. Following his discharge from the service, the couple made their home on the family farm south of Farragut. In 1975 they moved to their newly built home in Farragut. Kenneth farmed the family farm and also began working at Eaton Corporation in 1972, retiring in 1988. the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed playing cards. Kenneth was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a 51 year member of the Nishnabotany Masonic Lodge, a longtime member of the Farragut Volunteer Fire Department, the Farragut United Methodist Church and was currently a board member at Admiral Manor. He was welcomed into heaven by his best friend and wife of nearly 60 years Rubye; his parents; brother Max Livingston; sister Lola Mae Durfey Ossian; and great-grandson Bryant Lashier. Those left to honor his memory include his daughters Barbara Miller and husband Tom of Farragut and Denise Hammer and husband Denny of Tabor; five grandchildren Michele Burkhiser, Christin Lashier, Jason Burkhiser (Angie), Melinda McCormick (Mike) and Matthew Hammer; 11 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends. Kenneth will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
