Max Wayne Givans

Max Wayne Givans, 78, of Burlington, passed away suddenly as the result of a heart attack at his home, Saturday, April 6, 2013. Born on May 2, 1934 in Washington County, Iowa, he was the son of Edward Everett "Ted" and Margaretta (Deal) Givans. He married Marjorie Jeannette Godlove, she preceded him in death August 22, 1984. Max was a truck driver for most of his life. He retired after working as an independent contractor after many years. More recently he drove the shuttle bus for Catfish Bend Casino. He served in the Army National Guard and was an active member of Long Creek United Methodist Church. In his younger years he was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors. He loved playing cards and was well known for his joke telling. He was a die-hard Cubs fan and loved watching softball and baseball. Survivors include his dear friend; Lois McElhinney of Danville, four daughters; Marcie Givans of Mt.
